Scooters 4 Hooters - 2011
Do you want to be part of Australia's largest Scooter Ride ?
Then be part of the 1000 plus scooter enthusiasts on a 10km charity ride around
Perth to raise money for a serious issue that affects so many Australians.
Approximately 12 months ago a small
group of people in the entertainment industry, including Ms Sharon Barnes a
breast cancer survivor, began planning and coordinating:
“Scooters 4
Hooters”. This is an event conceptualized by Mr. Dean Kellet (who
worked for many years in radio and whom we have since lost to prostate
cancer - R.I.P Dean) but bought to life in March 2011 in a truly spectacular
way.
The aim of this project is to conduct
an annual event which involves getting 1,000 motor scooters on a charity
ride to raise community awareness of breast cancer, as well as, raise money
for our chosen local charity - Breast Cancer Care WA.
Breast cancer is an illness which
affects not only women, but so many families and people in our community.
And during the conception of this event it seemed that everyone that we got
in contact with had been affected to some degree.
The attendance and/or promotion amongst
those involved and the scooter riders themselves showed their community
spirit and solidarity with sufferers and their families.
We are looking forward to even more
scooters and more awareness in next year’s ride. (
